Blogtober 20th

26

Its the 20th of October which means it is also the twentieth day of Blogtober! Today I am answering my questions based on 19th October.

  • What made me feel enthusiastic today?

Getting things done in the house and completing a few tasks that I have been putting off has made me feel enthusiastic today.  It’s been good for my headspace to finally get some things ticked off from my list that has just been dragging on for weeks.

  • What drained me of energy?

My friend came down in the afternoon and we had a little Birthday celebration including a lovely Indian dinner.  Unfortunately, my eyes were bigger than my belly and I ate too much which really drained me of energy and I was in bed by 10:30pm and fast asleep not long after!

  • What did I learn about myself today?

I learned that if I can identify why I dislike doing something and then try to identify the positives and how it will make me feel afterwards then I can get tasks done a lot easier and not put them off for so long.

Weekly Roundup 13/10/19 – 19/10/19

  • Reading

I started reading Who Is Tom Ditto by Danny Wallace last week and have been reading it at lunchtimes in work.  I am now halfway through it and can’t wait to see what happens next!

  • Watching

I discovered that there is a series called Rabbids Invasion on Netflix!  I loved the Rabbids games on the Wii and have been loving watching the show!  It’s really funny!

  • Listening to

I don’t know if I have mentioned a podcast I have been listening to called They Walk Among Us, it is a podcast that goes into detail about murder cases and is really interesting.  I’ve been listening to a lot of these podcasts in work.

  • Eating

I’ve been eating a lot of cake and other Birthday treats this week as it was my birthday on Wednesday.  I’ve seriously consumed more sugar and calories this week than I normally do in a month! Lol!

  • Drinking

I used to love apple Tango but haven’t bought any in years but recently, I discovered that Morrisons Apple Squash mixed with fizzy water tastes exactly like I remember apple Tango tasting so this has been my beverage of the week!

  • Doing

Most of the week was fairly normal and I just went to work and came home again but Wednesday was my Birthday and I was off from work so I’m going to tell you about that instead!  I woke up in the morning, came downstairs and made myself a coffee, then I sat and opened my presents and cards from my brother, sister, niece and nephew.  I got dressed and went to the local pet shop to spend my birthday voucher.  I got some stuff for the tank my friend had bought me.  I came back home and spent a few hours setting up my tank.  My Mum and Dad came up and bought cake, cards and a few presents!  While they were here Dad had a look at the toilet repairs I had done and was pretty impressed with what I had done.  My lovely neighbour called in so we all had a cuppa and chat.  Mum and Dad stayed for a while which was nice.  After they had gone home I had a little nap then woke up and watched The Apprentice before going to bed!  It was a lovely day!

  • Feeling

I’ve been feeling pretty positive this week despite having a few days where I had a bit of a bad day and felt angry and annoyed and upset.  But overall, I have been feeling pretty calm and happy.  The things that have made me angry, annoyed and upset are things that I can’t change and are more a reaction to others actions and just show how some people can not and will not listen or care and it’s not really a reflection of myself, but more about them and their lack of understanding.  So, I have decided that even though I am affected by certain situations there isn’t much I can do (at the moment anyway…).

How has your week been?  What have you been up to?  I’d love to hear in the comments!

Blogtober 19th

22

It’s the 19th of October which means it is also the nineteenth day of Blogtober! Today I am answering my questions based on 18th October.

  • What made me feel enthusiastic today?

I was made to feel enthusiastic by the fact that the day was Friday!  I have had what feels like a long week and have some plans I am looking forward to over the weekend so I was glad to wake up to it being the last day of the working week so I can concentrate on my plans and projects over the next few days!

  • What drained me of energy?

I decided to try and be more cheerful in work today and tried to make an effort to be happy and not let anything get to me much.  That saying of “fake it until you make it” kept going through my head and on the exterior, I was trying to appear upbeat and cheerful but inside I was groaning and just wanted the day to be over.  It was exhausting.

  • What did I learn about myself today?

I learned that I just can not plaster on a smile if I’m not feeling it as it seems even harder work than just going with how I feel.  I’m sure I would be a terrible poker player as my expression would give me away, either that or after an hour I’d need a laydown and a nap for a few hours!

Blogtober 18th

18

It’s the 18th of October which means it is also the eighteenth day of Blogtober! Today I am answering my questions based on 17th October.

  • What made me feel enthusiastic today?

I drew the winner for my Bullet Journal give-away early in the morning and I was really enthusiastic about continuing to prepare the journal for my lovely winner Willow!

  • What drained me of energy?

I had a headache, caused by the weather and a drop in the air pressure which wouldn’t shift despite taking painkillers and drinking loads of water through the day.

  • What did I learn about myself today?

I learned that even when the weather is miserable if I do something that I enjoy, the weather does not affect me half as much as if I were focusing on that.  Doing something I enjoy can distract me from negative feelings and thoughts so it is worth having activities to do on days when it is grey, both in weather and mood.

The Results Are In!!!

I used a random number generator to draw the winner of my Blog Bullet Journal giveaway!!! The lucky winner is Willow! 🙂  I will leave you a comment on your blog but if you see this first, please message me with your address!  My email is my.colourful.life@outlook.com

Thank you to everyone who participated, it was so much fun!  I shall be running more giveaways in the future so keep checking back!

Blogtober 17th

13

It’s the 17th of October which means it is also the seventeenth day of Blogtober! Today I am answering my questions based on 16th October.

  • What made me feel enthusiastic today?

It was my Birthday which I was already looking forward to as I had the day off from work.  What I was really enthusiastic about were the plans I had to go to the local pet shop to get some things for my fish tank and spend some time with my Mum and Dad and also my lovely neighbour Heather.

  • What drained me of energy?

While I was really enthusiastic about going to the pet shop and had planned what I wanted to get (I had a shop gift voucher), I couldn’t get everything I wanted as some of the stuff didn’t seem to be stocked in the local shop, and the offers that had been advertised on-line were not on anymore.  I had to calculate how much everything was as I didn’t want to spend over the card amount.  Then at the till the check out person tried to overcharge me and I almost had an argument over how many bags of gravel I had picked up.  I made her check the receipt and said I had made my calculations going by the prices on the shelves.  As she had already charged my gift card I had to wait around for the excess to be refunded so I didn’t have to pay anything extra.  The biggest drain on my energy was that nothing seemed to go to plan from the moment I arrived at the shop.

  • What did I learn about myself today?

I learned that I need to have less of an expectation and also have a backup plan.  If I had checked online if I could use my gift card then I could have just returned home and made my order online without so much faffing around, or I could have driven to the same shop a town over and seen what they had in store.  I should add, despite the experience, I am loving the items I did get and have set the tank up!

Words on Wednesday

Wednesday (3)

It’s my Birthday today and I’m celebrating by having the day off from work!  Seriously, booking my Birthday off as annual leave has been a long-standing tradition which started when I was in primary school.

My birthday falls just before school half term and my Mum would never let me have my Birthday off from school unlike my friends Mum who aaaaalllllwwaaaayyyysss let her have her Birthday off if it fell on a school day.  I vowed then, when I was 6 years old, in the middle of the playground, on a damp October morning, when I had been made to leave my new Birthday toys at home and attend school, that when I was an “adult” and working I would never, ever, never work on my birthday ever.

As soon as the annual leave renews itself (in my current job it is every April that we get our new holiday allowance for the year) I book my Birthday off.  And every job I have had, it has always been questioned as my employers always think that booking off a day in October when it is the first week of April is a bit weird, but it is one promise that I made to myself that I vow to keep and so far I’m doing pretty good!

So, my plans for today?  Well, even though this will be published at 8am (UK time) I will probably still be sleeping (this schedule thing is totally amazing!) and plan on having a lie-in with Roxy until late morning.  I then plan on getting up and making myself a lovely fresh, proper coffee, toast and marmalade and sitting to enjoy it before opening my presents from my brother, his wife and my niece and nephew.  I will then get dressed and head to my local pet shop.  I got given a fish tank from a friend as part of my birthday presents, and I have a voucher to use so I intend to get some bits and pieces for it – gravel, lights, ornaments, bubble thing and get it all set up and running so I can add fish to it in a few weeks time.

In the afternoon my Mum and Dad are coming over so I shall spend some time with them, have a cuppa and maybe something to eat.  In the evening I plan on snuggling up on the sofa in my fleecy, fluffy jimjams and socks, with Roxy and a blanket and watching The Apprentice.

I may treat myself to a bit of a pamper and a bubble bath and read a bit of my book before getting to bed at a reasonable time!

Do you have any Birthday traditions?  I’d love to hear if you do, or don’t and why or how they came about so let me know in the comments!
