Things I am Looking Forward to – Autumn

Autumn(4)

As someone who loves colour, I think that Autumn holds the greatest intrigue and inspiration for me.

This season I am really looking forward to

  • The change in colours of the trees and foliage
  • Cooler days and nights
  • Wearing boots with everything
  • Cozy nights in
  • Stomping through crunchy leaves
  • Looking for mushrooms
  • Conkers
  • Apples fresh from the tree
  • Visits to the local pub to sit in front of the open fire
  • The scent of bonfires on the air
  • Autumn outfits
  • The Apprentice starting on the BBC

These are some of the things I am looking forward to, what are you looking forward to this coming season?  Let me know in the comments!

Saturday Shout Out

There won’t be a Saturday Shout Out this week, or for the next few weeks as I haven’t had any interest in people taking the available slots that I have.  I am hoping that this is down to the fact that it is summer and people are busy enjoying the weather and their holidays!

I will still be advertising for Saturday Shout Out participants, so if you or anyone you know may be interested either direct them to my email (my.colourful.life@outlook.com) or leave me a comment and I can get a questionnaire sent out to you!

Anyway, what are your plans for today?  I am currently working on a few ideas that I have for this blog and a “secret” project which I should be revealing soon!!!  Talking of my “secret” project…I will be looking for a few people to help me with some market testing, there won’t be any monetary pay involved but I can offer you a freebie…Intrigued, interested or just willing to take part?  Please email me (my.colourful.life@outlook.com) with the heading Secret Project!

Happy Anniversary!!!

Saturday Shout Out

SATURDAY

Saturday Shout Out gives you all a chance to meet some new bloggers, find new blogs to read or get your blog noticed a bit more. It is my way of thanking the blogging community for being so supportive of me and my little blog and introducing new blogs that you may not have seen or read before.

What this means…

Every Saturday I will choose one blog, share a bit about it along with your blog link. I will also share your blog to my Instagram account and my Twitter account.

If you are interested in taking part then drop me an email to my.colourful.life@outlook.com with Saturday Shout Out as the subject line and I will send you a form to fill out!

A Day In My Life…Work Day

A Day In My.png

Work takes up a huge percentage, around 33%, of my waking life, so today I thought I would share what a typical working day is like for me.

  • 7:00am

I usually wake around 7:00am on a regular weekday when I am going to e working.  I wake to the sound of my alarm and set it to snooze for 10mins so I can have a snuggle with Roxy before starting my day.  I then get up, have a shower, get dressed and put some makeup on.

  • 8.00am

I come downstairs and put the kettle on, let Roxy out into the garden and start gathering up my lunch stuff.  I make a coffee and at the same time, I make myself a travel mug of coffee.  I pack everything I need into my day bag, drink my coffee and find my car keys.

  • 8:20am

I get into my car and begin my drive to work which doesn’t really take too long.  I am usually parked in work by 8:45am.  I then sit and have a quick read of some blogs while having a cigarette or a puff on my vape before heading into work at around 8:55am.

  • 9:00am

I get to my desk at a few minutes to 9 most days.  I log in to the system and unpack things I need for the day.  I then look at the work that I need to do for the day.  My manager has usually split each of my team work that needs to be done during the day, the work varies depending on the types of payment that we need to process.  I assess the work that I have been allocated, normally I like to start with the things that take the longest and make my way down the pile in descending time order.  I check my emails and reply to anything that needs to be answered, sometimes my manager will have emailed with how she wants work to be completed depending on where we are in the pay cycle.  By 9:15am I have a plan in place and I start the day.

  • 10:00am

I have my breakfast at 10:00am while I work as I have found eating before I take my medication helps me to feel less sicky.  I have my breakfast and drink my coffee before taking my meds at 10:30am.  I continue to work on processing payments while I eat and have my coffee.

  • 11:00am

Thi sis universally known as Tea O’clock!  At 11:00am I go and make a cup of tea (I drink Tetley Red Bush Vanilla, no sugar, no milk!) and fill my bottle of water up.  Once that is done I then return to my desk and check my emails before continuing with processing.

  • 12:00pm

The post has usually arrived by now so I will spend some time opening and sorting the post.  Some of our post needs to be logged onto the system and then sent to our sister office for them to process.  I usually log the post and pack it up ready to be delivered.  This can take an hour or so.

  • 1:00pm

Between 1:00pm and 1:30pm I have my lunch.  90% of the time I sit at my desk and have my lunch while reading my book.  I don’t really like our staff room, it is too small and can be super noisy and hot and it can smell weird too, I always feel on edge in there but more comfortable at my desk.

  • 1:30pm

By 1:30pm I have finished my lunch and will start back to work.  I like to start my afternoon by balancing figures and making sure that the figures that have been sent to us match with what I have processed, and if not, find out why and make any amendments so that they all are the same.

  • 2:00pm

Did you know that there are officially 2 Tea O’clocks in the working day?!  2:00pm is definitely my favorite of the two!  I make myself a cuppa and re-fill my water bottle (that gets filled about 5 or 6 times through the day) then return to my desk to continue processing payments.

  • 4:30pm

I have usually finished my processing for the day so work on paperwork and booking appointments for the last half an hour or so before I start packing up for the day.  Sometimes I will work on a bit later (maybe to 6:00pm) depending on how many appointments need to be booked.

  • 5:00pm (or 6:00pm)

I pack up and log out of the systems, shut down my computer and then walk to my car and make my journey home.

What does your workday look like?  I’d love to hear in the comments!

In Case You Missed It

img_5014

In Case You Missed It is a new series that I started last month.  This series gives you a chance to discover some of my favorite posts that I wrote in the previous month.  This month I am looking back at some of my favorite posts for June.

  • Wanna Know You Better  I was tagged by Riya of World of My Thoughts to take part in this getting to know you better question and answer series.  I had a load of fun answering the questions and letting you guys know a bit more about me.  I am really interested in taking part in more of these question and answer posts!
  • Diary, Planner and Journal Review  I really enjoy seeing how my planning style evolves, what works, what doesn’t and all the bits in between!  I am sure I always say that I have found what works for me and by the next post about my planners and planning style I have gone and changed it again!
  • The Bloggers Bash Review  What can I say?  It was a fabulous day of learning, listening, and networking and in this post, I tell you all about my favorite parts of the day!
  • Garden Update  I never really thought I was a “gardening” sort of person but it turns out that gardening is something I really enjoy.  I had been talking A LOT about gardening in other posts so thought it would be nice to share with you what I have done and my plans for the future!  It will be interesting to look back on this post in years to come and see how much my garden has changed!
  • House Plants  I really believe that the addition of house plants to any area can really change the atmosphere of that space, they add a calming influence, not to mention that they can be beneficial to our health.  I loved sharing my plants in this post.
  • 1 Year In My Home!!!!  I think that this is definitely a milestone worth not just recording but for celebrating too!  I’ve never really lived on my own before and having been in my home for a year is worth blogging about!

New Blog Series – Words on Wednesday

img_5011

I am always thinking about things; ideas that I have, thoughts, conversations, comments, opinions, annoyances, observations, the list goes on…,  and sometimes I think that I would like to share these things over my blog, but never really do as they either don’t fit into any of my blog categories, are something that is pretty current and my schedule is full or they are things that don’t warrant a full blog post dedicated to them.  This is where my new series, Words on Wednesday will fit.  Each Wednesday there will be a post called “Words on Wednesday” which will be a post about, well, anything, I am letting myself be led by my thoughts and see what happens when I have a free thinking space in which to air my views, thoughts, and goodness knows what else that may flow from my brain to my fingertips and onto this screen…we shall see what happens and where this takes me!

So, if you are interested, Words on Wednesday will be starting here on Wednesday next week!

Bloggers Bash

Today’s blog post is being written on a coach as I make my way from my home to London for the weekend!

I’m pretty excited about this trip as, not only am I getting to spend some time with my brother, his wife and my niece and nephew, I’m also going to be attending the Bloggers Bash!

I was up super early this morning, 4:30am and getting ready for my trip, made myself a flask for coffee for the journey and headed to the bus stop, (with thanks to my lovely friend for the lift down), to await the bus that would pick me up at 6:05am.

Luckily the bus was on time, and so far the journey has gone without a glitch. It’s been raining pretty much non stop since last night and showers are forecast for the day and for tomorrow which is a bit disappointing as it’s June and we should be having hot, sunny weather by now. Personally though, I don’t mind travelling when the temperatures are a bit cooler as it can get a bit unpleasant if it’s too hot!

What are your plans for the weekend? Are you going to the Bloggers Bash? Let me know in the comments!!!
