Blogtober 17th

13

It’s the 17th of October which means it is also the seventeenth day of Blogtober! Today I am answering my questions based on 16th October.

  • What made me feel enthusiastic today?

It was my Birthday which I was already looking forward to as I had the day off from work.  What I was really enthusiastic about were the plans I had to go to the local pet shop to get some things for my fish tank and spend some time with my Mum and Dad and also my lovely neighbour Heather.

  • What drained me of energy?

While I was really enthusiastic about going to the pet shop and had planned what I wanted to get (I had a shop gift voucher), I couldn’t get everything I wanted as some of the stuff didn’t seem to be stocked in the local shop, and the offers that had been advertised on-line were not on anymore.  I had to calculate how much everything was as I didn’t want to spend over the card amount.  Then at the till the check out person tried to overcharge me and I almost had an argument over how many bags of gravel I had picked up.  I made her check the receipt and said I had made my calculations going by the prices on the shelves.  As she had already charged my gift card I had to wait around for the excess to be refunded so I didn’t have to pay anything extra.  The biggest drain on my energy was that nothing seemed to go to plan from the moment I arrived at the shop.

  • What did I learn about myself today?

I learned that I need to have less of an expectation and also have a backup plan.  If I had checked online if I could use my gift card then I could have just returned home and made my order online without so much faffing around, or I could have driven to the same shop a town over and seen what they had in store.  I should add, despite the experience, I am loving the items I did get and have set the tank up!

Words on Wednesday

Wednesday (3)

It’s my Birthday today and I’m celebrating by having the day off from work!  Seriously, booking my Birthday off as annual leave has been a long-standing tradition which started when I was in primary school.

My birthday falls just before school half term and my Mum would never let me have my Birthday off from school unlike my friends Mum who aaaaalllllwwaaaayyyysss let her have her Birthday off if it fell on a school day.  I vowed then, when I was 6 years old, in the middle of the playground, on a damp October morning, when I had been made to leave my new Birthday toys at home and attend school, that when I was an “adult” and working I would never, ever, never work on my birthday ever.

As soon as the annual leave renews itself (in my current job it is every April that we get our new holiday allowance for the year) I book my Birthday off.  And every job I have had, it has always been questioned as my employers always think that booking off a day in October when it is the first week of April is a bit weird, but it is one promise that I made to myself that I vow to keep and so far I’m doing pretty good!

So, my plans for today?  Well, even though this will be published at 8am (UK time) I will probably still be sleeping (this schedule thing is totally amazing!) and plan on having a lie-in with Roxy until late morning.  I then plan on getting up and making myself a lovely fresh, proper coffee, toast and marmalade and sitting to enjoy it before opening my presents from my brother, his wife and my niece and nephew.  I will then get dressed and head to my local pet shop.  I got given a fish tank from a friend as part of my birthday presents, and I have a voucher to use so I intend to get some bits and pieces for it – gravel, lights, ornaments, bubble thing and get it all set up and running so I can add fish to it in a few weeks time.

In the afternoon my Mum and Dad are coming over so I shall spend some time with them, have a cuppa and maybe something to eat.  In the evening I plan on snuggling up on the sofa in my fleecy, fluffy jimjams and socks, with Roxy and a blanket and watching The Apprentice.

I may treat myself to a bit of a pamper and a bubble bath and read a bit of my book before getting to bed at a reasonable time!

Do you have any Birthday traditions?  I’d love to hear if you do, or don’t and why or how they came about so let me know in the comments!

Blogtober 16th

8

Its the 16th of October which means it is also the sixteenth day of Blogtober! Today I am answering my questions based on 15th October.

  • What made me feel enthusiastic today?

After a pretty crappy day in work, I didn’t feel particularly enthusiastic about anything much until my lovely neighbour popped in.  We had a cuppa and a chat then I went round to hers for a cuppa.  She was showing me the craft things that she had been doing and ideas that she had I started to feel more enthusiastic about my crafting plans.  It’s funny how listening to someone else’s enthusiasm can spark off your own.  I spent the rest of my evening doing some research and sketches for the logo competition that work is running.

  • What drained me of energy?

Work drained me of energy.  I spent much of my day feeling pretty annoyed, angry and upset by certain events that happened in work today and was glad when 5pm rolled around so I could get out of there.

  • What did I learn about myself today?

Today I learned that I really need to surround myself with more positivity and positive people who have similar interests to me and that maybe it is time for a change of scenery where employment is concerned.

Blogtober 15th

3

It’s the 15th of October which means it is also the fifteenth day of Blogtober! Today I am answering my questions based on 14th October.

  • What made me feel enthusiastic today?

Thinking about the logo competition that work is running has made me feel enthusiastic.  I had a few ideas but have now narrowed it down to 2 which I think would work really well within our workspace to convey what my employer is looking for.  I don’t want to share too much right now but my train of thought is on flowers and Celtic symbols.

  • What drained me of energy?

Physio drained me of energy today.  The last time I went I got given a few different exercises to do but at some point in the week, I stretched without thinking one morning and have made my shoulder worse.  I did get the results of my X-ray back and there doesn’t seem to be any underlying problems though so that is good.  We did some more exercises and movements and the physio said that he thinks I have damaged the tendon in my rotator cuff group.  I have another physio session booked for next week and after that, I will probably be getting referred for a steroid injection to see if that helps matters.

  • What did I learn about myself today?

I learned that it is good to let ideas sit for a bit and to really think about things, make notes along the way and see what comes up.  Not all ideas that we have are always the best ones and I need to give myself space to think and mull things over first.

Blogtober 14th

29

Its the 14th of October which means it is also the fourteenth day of Blogtober! Today I am answering my questions based on 13th October.

  • What made me feel enthusiastic today?

Doing some housework made me feel enthusiastic today.  It was nice to spend some time doing laundry and cleaning the house.

  • What drained me of energy?

Worrying drained me of energy.  It was nothing super specific that I have been worrying about but I have felt that feeling of being worried all day which then triggered my anxiety.  I think part of that worry was caused by my hospital appointment in the morning.

  • What did I learn about myself today?

I learned that I can get enthusiastic about even the most mundane tasks when I make them fun.  I set the stopwatch on my phone and raced myself to see how quickly I could get things done versus how long I thought the tasks would take!

Weekly Roundup 06/10/19 – 12/10/19

  • Reading

I picked up a new book earlier this week and have started to read it, it’s called Who Is Tom Ditto by Danny Wallace and is about a guy called Tom and the disappearance of his girlfriend.  I have only read the first few pages but it is pretty good so far!

  • Watching

I’ve been getting back into watching Eastenders this week.  I used to watch the soap regularly but have got out of the habit of watching it over the past year.  I always love their Christmas disaster and wanted to start watching it again so I get to know what is happening and witness the build-up before the event!

  • Listening to

I’ve been listening to Fearne Cotton’s podcast – The Happy Place which has been really lovely to listen to while in work, I thoroughly recommend listening to the Ruby Wax one, it was brilliant!

  • Eating

I’ve been eating a lot of tinned tomatoes this week in different ways, from making a sauce to have with pasta to having them on toast hot, I love heating them up and adding a dash of balsamic vinegar and a pinch of salt – perfect for these cold evenings!

  • Drinking

Water has been my go-to beverage this week and I have easily drunk my recommended 2 litres a day.  In work we have a machine that cools the water before dispensing it, the water is filtered too and it has been just the right temperature and has tasted so good, not that the water ever tastes particularly bad where I live or anything, but it is something I have really noticed this week.

  • Doing

Aside from blogging, I don’t really feel like I have been doing much outside of my 9-5 job.  I did get some washing done and a couple of other things that I wanted to do, but not really anything that significant.  I did spend the first half of Saturday with my Mum.  I went to my parent’s house for breakfast, saw my Mum, Dad and brother who was down from London, then Mum and I went to have a look around town for some jumpers and a present for my Birthday.

  • Feeling

I’ve been feeling a bit all over the place this week and have gone through all of the emotions from being happy, sad, annoyed, fed-up, tired, and all the in-betweens.  I am not really looking forward to being a year older, my job is making me feel miserable and I have so many things I want to do but that seems so impossible to achieve at times.  I know everything needs baby steps and doing little and often will help me to achieve my goals but sometimes my brain doesn’t want to think logically and gets impatient!

How has your week been?  What have you been up to?  I’d love to hear in the comments!

  • What made me feel enthusiastic today?

I felt really enthusiastic about getting up this morning and being able to spend some time with my Mum, Dad and brother.

  • What drained me of energy?

I had a dull headache creep up on me early afternoon and by the time I got home, I was so tired that Roxy and I went to bed for a few hours.

  • What did I learn about myself today?

I learned that spending time with my family can be really uplifting for my mood.  There is something really comforting about being with my family.
